Now with added links to ALT-C related posts and photo evidence!
What can I say - it was a fantastic night. I got to meet a whole load of people who have only previously existed for me in the world of skype, text and podcasts. The evening started off at the sponsored ALT 'taste of the Orient' social. Thanks for the seemingly inexhaustible supply of free beer WebCT! - Although I nearly had a heart attack when my fortune-cookie fortune informed me that I would either be coming into an obscene amount of money soon or putting a course on WebCT. Maybe you guys shouldn't forewarn potential customers about your licensing fees :-)
After that we went to the Lass O'Gowrie, which turned out to be a really nice pub. I'll post pictures shortly, in the mean time, this is the roll call of shame:
Derek Morrison: Great overview of Stephen Downes's concluding remarks on the theme of collaboration, comments and links on the contribution which won best research paper - congratulations to Brian Kelly, Lawrie Phipps, and Caro Howell!
Scott Wilson: Comments on the Architectural issues stream.
Stephen Downes: Summary notes of Etienne Wenger's closing keynote on communities of practice
Juliette White: Day 1; Thoughts on the digital natives/immigrants divide; Juliette - still alert after the serious and semi-epic meet-up; Her concluding remarks.
Chris Sessums : On early signs of trouble: Sal Cooke and Stephen Downes; various session reports;
Meet-up and more sessions; Stephen Downes's concluding rioting.
David Powell
Suki Cheyne
Stella Lee
Amber Thomas
Steven Warburton
& Bloggers who were there but didn't meet up:
Adian Johnson from the Spoken Word Project: Day 1, 2, and 3
Netherlands blogger Marc Dupuis covered four days of ALT-C activities
I'm sure there were others - please let me know!
Thanks for organising this! I made it to a 9 o'clock session (really!) on blogging this morning and the presenter asked for a show of hands of people in the audience who kept blogs and it was suprisingly large number, but I guess lots of them might have been personal ones rather than about learning technology.
Got caught up and didn't make it on time for meeting up this evening :-(
