I'm writing from Kings College London where I'm taking part in the ALT Moodle II workshop, Groups, Wikis and Quizzes - exploring the advanced tools within Moodle. A great opportunity to meet other people who are new to the platform and to have some dedicated time to get the hang of the layout and tools. We're in the evaluative phase of our College's adventures in Moodle, with the first phase roll out due for the next academic year.
The course is being run by Sonja Grussendorf and Dr Mira Vogel, both of who are very good and very patient with us (we've all been pretty unruly so far).
It's a shame the blog feature which replaces the journal tool isn't being introduced until Summer (at the earliest). But the wiki feature is great! and I love the glossary's too.
If you're interested in using Moodle or have started to do so - let me know! I know the RSC's are running a couple of user groups: Go here for the East Midlands contact, and here for the London gang.
Also - don't forget the 2005 Moodle Moot if your in the UK over the summer (August 15th and 16th) - call for papers here.
Good to hear you enjoyed the Moodle workshop, Josie. We will try to run this again if demand continues as before. More ALT events here: http://www.alt.ac.uk/events.php
