Excellent post. So, for the record, I am now; blinkered, dismissive, pompous, easy and conformist. I've been called worse. And don't get me started on journalism as well - I don't think radio or print news is any better than that on TV. I find Radio 4 just as uninformative as the Daily Star or Panorama (not that I'd watch Panorama, of course, but you get my point). The only difference is the Star uses shorter words.

Blinkered, dismissive, pompous, easy and conformist. Well, not generally, but your views on telly might be construed that way.

Well I applaud you for finding so much positive stuff to say about telly. I don't think it deserves it. After all, you said yourself that the news is like crude propaganda - well I reckon the medium in general is. If not political, then certainly commercial.

Hard to disagree about commercialisation in a capitalist society. Despite my political leanings I do see that there have been some benefits from commercialisation too. And change just seems more difficult as I get older, but I am trying to do more to bring it about.

Watched the Terry Jones programme about the Celts this evening and it was excellent, I thought - further proof for my adage that people don't change, only their technology does. See - I can appreciate some telly! America is the new Rome.
