On BBC 4 this time.
Stayed in watching teevee today because of the storm/unrelenting rain.
OK I did go out for beer. Horses is about a family of five Kurdish children living in an Iranian village near the Iraqi border.
Their mother died in childbirth, their father gets blown up making a living smuggling stuff over the border, time is running out for one of the brothers (Madi, who is dying from an unspecified terminal illness) and the armed conflict is always on the periphery. The title refers to the fact that conditions are so bad that you have to get the mules drunk in order to get them to haul loads over the mountains. The film manages the huge feat of not being sentimental though, and the cinematography is beautiful.
