One-Line Bio

UK-based social & educational technologist.

Biography

My recent work has been recognised as out standing and of national and international significance. In September 2008 my professional body, the Association for Learning Technology, awarded me the title Individual Learning Technologist of the Year.

I help promote the use of a wide range of technologies to support and enhance how people communicate, participate, collaborate and learn. I like to solve problems and design practical, creative & effective solutions. I'm particularly interested in how technologies can make learning more engaging, dynamic and accessible, and more people and community-centered. Social participation and engagement are things I think about continually.

I write policy and white papers, design and run workshops, seminars, events and training programmes, and undertake a wide range of consultative, research and project work.

I work with Government, not-for-profits and industry designing and implementing services that increase social participation, build active, engaged communities, and support formal and informal learning. I work across age ranges, and have the skills and experience to support organisations who want to use social media and software with under 19 year olds, developing policy and practice which is safe, legal and ethical.

If you're interested in making best use of social networking and social media tools and services, developing online communities or setting strategic policy around web 2.0 for your organisation, then I can help out.
